Layering for Weather

Our weather has been strange lately.
One minute it's in the 20's, the next it's nearly 90 degrees!
In all fairness, part of that is just the desert. It cools down at night- we need jackets year round for evening star gazing.
Layering seems to be the name of the game for me these days.
Start out with a sweater or cardigan, and ditch it when it warms up.
The first outfit is from nearly two weeks ago...that's what happens when you skip a week of WIWW

The five year old helped me take photos after school. "Madison, can you see my head? Can you see my toes? Can you see my head AND my toes?" I didn't realize she was taking photos the whole time.

favorite chunky hand me down boots are from my best friend. They are getting a little worse for the wear. Have you seen a similar pair anywhere? I'm looking for replacements.

In the days following this outfit, it got chilly again...so, I layered up for church.

By the time the service was over, I was burning up. Ditch the sweater.

I'm not in love with this outfit for so many reasons. Here are two.
#1- I'm thinking I should have worn the skirt a little lower on my hips- it's not doing my middle any favors paired with this top. Note to self: stop with the late night fresh popped popcorn
#2- I should have taken Stacy and April's advice and worn a lacy slip with the lace trim peeking out around the bottom of the skirt...and paired that with Krystina's classic tall sweater socks peeking out just over the top of my boots.

yes, my legs really are that pale.

By the end of last week it was insanely windy here in the desert- gusts up to 60 mph.
The only photo I have of this outfit creation is this

yes, my phone still has the free cover SquareTrade sent me when I bought their awesome two year warranty/insurance.
no, I was not paid to say that.
yes, I should get a cuter phone cover. Suggestions?

Dear Weather,

Please pick a season. Any season will do.

Sincerely,
How do I dress for this crazy weather

PS Did you see the Fairly Fabulous Crafting Slumber Party is nearly full! Only one Saturday only crafter spot left and 4 Weekenders to come craft with me and Alyson. Have Blog. Will Babble.

I recently learned that a high school friend of mine blogs for Babble.com's Celebrity page Famecrawler.Joanna has created quite a niche for herself in the past year, blogging about celebrity moms and dads. If you are interested in the latest on all the celebrity parents, she's your go to gal.
Her latest post about celebrities starring in hilarious Japanese commercials had me laughing out loud! You seriously have to watch Ben Stiller's commercial.
She partners with big names like Warner Home Entertainment and Disney on awesome DVD/Blu-ray giveaways, too!
Right now, Joanna has TWO giveaways going on-
Happy Feet Two DVD/Blu-ray Combo Pack Giveaway and a
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic DVD and TRAIN Set Prize Pack Giveaway. One lucky winner receives the grand prize with the My Little Pony DVD, a movie poster AND the train set, and four runners up receive their own copy of the movie.
Do you remember My Little Pony? I used to watch it every Saturday morning. I had every pony and the little girl-her name was Meaghan! My girls LOVE My Little Ponies so we are super excited about this giveaway. It ends tomorrow, so scoot on over there and enter!
I'm so proud of Joanna for finding a way to make money doing what she loves and staying home with her kids!

Blogger Friends

When you are a blogger, you tend to make blogger friends.
You start writing on a subject, find another blogger writing on the same subject, follow along and quickly make a new 'friend'.
Like a sitcom you DVR every Wednesday night so you can stay up late Thursday watching and catch up on the world of 'Johnny and Susie's new married life'.
You talk about bloggers like you talk about your best friends...

you:    I'm so excited Susie is pregnant again!
your spouse:    Who is Susie?
you:    You know, Little Blogger Girl, the one I told you about...
your spouse:    Who are you talking about?
you:    You know, she redid her daughter's room and then I totally redid our girls' room the same way because it was fabulous? Remember? She had a miscarriage last year, and now they are expecting their third child, and she lives in Texas, and her best friend has the blog, Best Friend Blogger Girl, and she has 7 kids and 4 dogs, lives on a farm....Why are you looking at me like that? Don't you remember this?
your spouse: Is this another one of those people you've never met? Or someone you actually know?
*sigh*

Such is the life of a blogger. Sometimes the people we know best and who know us best are people we've never hugged in real life.
I've met some pretty amazing women all around the country since I started blogging.
Some who inspire me to create.
Some who inspire me to be a better woman...better mom...better Christian.
Some who inspire me to branch out in my wardrobe. Find my fashion.
Some who make me laugh.
Some who make me cry.

Over the next several months I want to introduce you to some of the amazing women I've met via blogging.
This isn't a series really. More of a non-series. It will be sporadic.
It may be a few days between posts...it may be a few weeks.
I will tag all the posts with 'blogger friends' so you can easily go back and read the non-series. Because remember, this isn't a series...that implies organization and planning...and let's face it...these days, my brain is in ten places at once!

Side note: The Fairly Fabulous Crafting Slumber Party is already over half full!! If you are planning on coming, send in your reservation ASAP! Finally, a chance to hug some of my favorite bloggers in real life.
