When I was a child, my dad got me a stamp collection starter kit. He collected stamps for years and thought I might enjoy it, too. We went to collectors conventions, flipped through books of rare printings. I was just sure I would find a fool giving away an Inverted Jenny (the most famous oops in stamp printing history- valued at over $600,000 for one!)
About 6 years ago, a friend of mine introduced me to Stampin Up.
She had a closet full of what seemed like a billion rubber stamp sets, ink pads, card stock- everything you could ever possibly need to to create a card for any occasion. Wow- her creations were amazing. So-I went to a party she hosted, bought a stamp set- and the rest- well....you know the story.
In the past several months, I started feeling like a stamp collector again. Not the lick and stick kind- the 'make a card' kind. I rarely have- or make- the time to stamp anymore. I used to make and mail cards with pictures of Big Sister to family and friends once a month. I made over 100 birth announcements by hand for each of our girls big arrivals.
Last week, I made myself sit down and start stamping.
Partly because I had an order for cards (money talks, I suppose) and partly because I needed to. I have so many partially complete cards.
Here is one partially complete (a leftover from Little Sister's birth announcements 2 1/2 yrs ago) that I made new.
A friend childhood friend and his wife just had their first child- a little girl.
And so-her card-
Thus ending my stint as a stamp collector- returning me to the world of 'stamping' again.
