And now I want one

One of my friends is having a baby.

He's a boy. My friend has incredible taste, and her mom is an interior designer so her nursery is amazing. Seriously- you have to see it.

She described to me what she planned to do, sent me a few pictures of fabric and I secretly went to work creating a mobile for her.

along the way, I fell in love

This one was the first time I worked with so many different fabric types and textures at once.

It was an undertaking. A labor of hand stitch (very little sewing machine work) love.

a little twine, some thin brown satin ribbon

creamy painted branches, lots of fabric

buttons, felt, cotton, linen, jersey knit,

rick rack, embroidery floss, a little of everything went into this creation

the raw edges may be my favorite

or the flowers- they were a *it's not quite finished* addition

and now I want one

I have fallen in love

Our family doesn't quite feel complete to me

and after this project

(the project I almost didn't give to my friend *shhhh-don't tell her* because I wanted it to stay right there above our dining table)

we may need another one

another mobile- to hang above the dining room table....

or another little person- so I can make another mobile.
I love it, and I think she does, too.
Do you?

Yes she loves it!!! It's (im)patiently sitting inside the crib waiting for Mimi to come back and whip out her craftiness to hang it :-) Can't wait! I'm gonna put up a final tour of the nursery once she finishes everything (mobile included). Thank you dear friend for all of your hard work - I wouldn't even know where to start to make any mobile, let alone a really cute one ;-) And I'm thinking the solution is definitely another baby. And then another mobile!

That is such a cute mobile! I love the use of the sticks - makes it more natural, especially with the cute animals. Thanks so much for posting about it.
